PRESIDENT Sue Canfield welcomed members and visitors, one from as far away as Malvern, to the February meeting.
The year had already been busy with a behind-the-scenes visit to the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford, a win in the second skittles match of the tournament and the regular monthly cinema trip.
Everyone forgot about wet and windy winter days as they sat back and enjoyed a stunning slide show, Wild Flowers of the World.
Speaker Peter Sheasby had selected slides from his collection of more than 60,000 to give a flavour of the wonderful flowers than can be found on the different continents.
All his slides showed wild species photographed in their natural surroundings.
The range and depth of colours was magnificent.
When asked what we have in Britain that visitors from abroad would relish, Mr Sheasby noted our bluebell woods were spectacular.
All present were inspired to take their cameras and look more closely at plant life the next time they are in the countryside, whether at home or abroad.
