A PLAQUE in memory of a popular street cleaner has been fitted to a new bench in Redditch town centre.
Roy Cook, known as Cookie, had worked for Redditch Council since 1982 and for Redditch Development Corporation before that. He died in 2002.
The new bench in Church Green East replaced the wooden one bought through donations by his friends and colleagues, which was vandalised last year.
The council has been fitting 16 new benches in Church Green and Alcester Street.
