A CAT loving Bromsgrove woman has had to give up her dream of building a holiday home for them after losing a planning appeal.

Sandra Cupples-Taylor had her application to open up a boarding house for cats at her home in Astwood Lane, Stoke Prior. She took the matter to appeal after Bromsgrove District Council planners turned the plan down on highways grounds.

"I am really disappointed. The appeal has been refused and there's nothing more I can do now," said the 42-year-old. "I will just have to give up on the idea."

Mrs Cupples-Taylor said she had been trying to get the plan off the ground for twelve months before it was turned down in October last year. The problem comes from the visibility at the end of her home's 30 foot drive and the planning inspector has now agreed with the council that it does not meet regulations.

"I think it's pathetic," said Mrs Cupples-Taylor. "It was only to be a small concern for me because I like cats. There would only have been room for eight pens and 26 cats so there wouldn't have been much traffic. I seem to be the victim of some greater plan for this road which will become clear in the future.

"My cattery wasn't going to create jobs or much money so it doesn't seem to matter. It was just something I wanted to do."

She said she had planned to run the cattery as a new career but she would now carry on working full time in health care in Droitwich.
