A sudden influx in unwanted pets has prompted a rescue centre in Tibberton to call on the public to open up their hearts and share their homes with a pet pooch.
Supervisor Dave Lannie, from the Danemere Animal Rescue Centre in Plough Road is looking for devoted dog lovers to home one or more of the 53 dogs currently available.
He said: "Usually we home around 20 to 25 dogs but at the moment we have over 50 and are desperately trying to find new homes for them all.
"We have dogs of various breeds and ages. Some are strays or unwanted pets after Christmas and in some cases their owners can no longer look after them. We are particularly looking for someone to rehome a pair of elderly Labradors whose owners recently died."
Saxon and Prince are both aged 11 and are brothers. The rescue centre would ideally like to rehome them together.
For details on the pair or any other breed, call Mr Lannie on 01905 345655.
