A CRITICALLY-acclaimed folk singer will be performing in Bromsgrove next week.

The well-loved Bob Fox (pictured) will be appearing at the Bromsgrove Folk Club on Thursday, March 11.

Bob began his career in folk music during the seventies as a floor singer. He was part of an extremely successful double act with fellow northerner Tom McConville.

They toured clubs playing mainly traditional folk music, with Bob on fiddle and Tom on guitar or piano, but parted company after two years together.

Bob then joined forces with Stu Luckley, which once again proved a popular combination. They won an album of the year award for 'Nowt So Good'll Pass'.

Together they played almost every folk club and festival in the country. They also toured Holland, Germany and Australia.

The pair went their separate ways in 1982 and since then Bob has remained, for most part, a solo artist. In 2000, Bob celebrated 25 year of success on the folk music scene.

He has been nominated for two gongs in the BBC Folk Music Awards, including best folk singer.

Bob will bring his unique talent to the function room of Bromsgrove Rugby Club, in Finstall, at 8.15pm.

Resident band Fairfield will also be performing at the event.
