I FEEL so strongly on this issue I had to write and see what other local residents who drive think?

What on earth is happening to our local road and traffic systems? I hope locals will agree with me that the roads in our area are absolutely shocking and implementing mini-roundabouts on every street corner is going to get someone hurt!

I and several others have had to emergency stop on the island outside The Red Lion in Alvechurch because motorists do not realise it is there until it is too late and go straight over it, even though cars are turning right onto it.

Bromsgrove, Barnt Green, Blackwell, Rednal, Cofton Hackett and Alvechurch, in fact all of the surrounding areas, including Droitwich are all in on this - not one of them escapes.

Our roads are in urgent need of proper repair and maintenance. How the local council can continue to build houses on every spare piece of land when our road infra-structure is falling down is beyond me. There is not a decent road in the area.

Not even the Alvechurch by-pass escapes. There have been 20mph signs up now for five to six weeks. Why? Because it was resurfaced about three months ago and nobody bothered to sweep up the loose chippings - and they still haven't!

Nobody is taking any notice of the signs because they have been there so long. Drivers think the council has forgotten to remove them, therefore cars are being showered with stones and in just three months this road has become pitted again and will shortly need resurfacing again!

Whoever was paid for this job should be made to do it again for free and this time it should last longer than just 12 weeks!

Motorists are taking evasive action, usually in the path of oncoming traffic, to miss extremely dangerous pot holes which would - if hit - cause serious damage to their motor vehicles.

Perhaps we should all send our car bills to those responsible for our roads, maybe then something would be done.

If you complain to the authorities a couple of men are sent with a shovel or two of tarmac and throw it in the hole and hope that will suffice.

Contractors are allowed to dig up the roads anywhere and leave the roads with furrows. Trenches of tarmac that do not blend in with the existing road sinks lower than the original level which means in a short space of time - holes. They should be made to resurface the entire stretch of road they have just dug up.

We deserve better!
