Causeway 2

Alvechurch 1

JOINT 'Church boss Neil Bryan has put a ban on any talk of relegation after the Churchmen slumped at Causeway.

Fourth from bottom Alvechurch have nine games left and 27 points to play for until the end of the season and a crunch game against bottom club Pelsall on Saturday.

He said: "I won't have talk about relegation in the dressing room, it only puts a bad feeling into players.

"We've got a lot of young players going out every week and they're doing absolutely marvellous."

On Saturday, Liam O'Shea put the Churchmen in the lead but Causeway equalised through Aaron Dunn moments later and Ian Kirkham gave Causeway the lead from the spot.

And according to the 'Church co-boss it was missed chances that cost Alvechurch the win.

Bryan said: "If it was a boxing match we would have won on points.

"We missed six good chances which is disappointing really because we've played really well but again come away with nothing."

The plus point was the form of ex-Conference player Jan Mulders.

The 36-year-old new signing from Stourbridge again impressed at the back for Alvechurch.

Bryan said: "He's a very good player. He put everybody at ease. The midfield players were always looking for the second ball because they knew he would win the first.

"He's the kind of player the younger players will learn a lot from."
