FOUR youths have been arrested after causing havoc and thousands of pounds of damage to vehicles in a Droitwich car park.

Members of the Droitwich Spa Bowling Club were busy enjoying their regular evening game last Friday when the incident occurred.

It was only as the rival Redditch team left the club near the Lido Centre, off Worcester Road, that the full extend of the damage was realised.

A club spokesman said: "Some of the Redditch team left earlier in the evening at around 8.30pm and noticed some youths run away from the car park.

"The vehicles belong to members of the Droitwich spa bowling club and many of the mirrors had been ripped off the cars.

"One vehicle it looked as though someone had jumped on the bonnet, causing thousands of pounds of damage.

"One of the members had bought a brand new Jaguar and he was absolutely devastated. Some of the Redditch members were absolutely disgusted and said they wouldn't be visiting here again," he added.

The police confirmed that the youths had been arrested between 8.45pm and 9.05pm in the Lido car park.

The four had been arrested on suspicion of various offences relation to the Public Order Act and criminal damage to a motor vehicle. They were all bailed to return to Worcester Police Station while enquiries continue.

Insp Steve Brooker, of West Mercia police, urged parents to keep track of their child's whereabouts and make sure they were not committing similar offences.

He added: "We're putting our money where our mouth is. Last week we put out a warning and we now have officers out there targeting problem areas.

"It is only the minority but this is an example of what could happen."
