COMPUTER systems company BDE Group has appointed a new operations director.

Tina Weston is the company's first female director and was previously technical services manager.

She was appointed to the board in recognition of her contribution to the business and her human resources skills.

In her three-and-a-half-years with the firm - based on Blackpool Trading Estate West, Worcester - Ms Weston has introduced a dedicated help desk facility in the technical services department and significant new internal policies including the new unified staff handbook.

Meanwhile, Betta Environmental Solutions has launched a secure bins service under their new technical supervisor.

Following the appointment of Karen Portwood, the Worcester-based firm has invested more than £180,000 in the launch of Betta Bins Secure Storage, a new service offering a safe and secure container solution for the on-site storage and collection of special waste.

Ms Portwood joins Betta after five years with a Gloucester total waste management company.
