I RARELY find myself in agreement with Government Inspectors but I must express my complete accord with the report ruling on the Local Plan of the city council.

The inspector has done a superb job of analysing the information available to him and his recommendations in respect of the park-and-ride, Christopher Whitehead School and the relocation of Worcester City Football Club are sensible and reasoned.

The comments of your sports writer do not, I feel, reflect the opinions of the "City" in its entirety as he suggests, least of all are the people "desperate" for this move.

The potential sums involved (if available) could be spent on other projects much more beneficial to the majority.

The limited assistance given to the Swan bears no comparison with what would practically be required to subsidise the relocation of the club and, as the Inspector rightly points out, a greater contribution from the proceeds of the sale of the existing ground would certainly assist in helping the club officials and supporters to raise the sums required.

To suggest that the councillors "ignore the recommendations" is less than rational, particularly bearing in mind the legal fees bill that our council taxpayers would have to foot.
