IT seems pretty obvious to me that George Cowley does not write with the intention of impressing some toffee-nosed pseudo-intellectuals.

His simple, unsophisticated style is nevertheless pleasing to his many fans. Surely it cannot be a bad thing when someone who has known adversity is able to derive pleasure from writing for the enjoyment of others at whatever intellectual level?

Most can identify with George's humour and down-to-earth comments and derive both enjoyment and inspiration.

Full marks then to George and to the Evening News for allowing him scope. He accomplishes much in a minimum of space.
