A FORMER Kidderminster Harriers goalkeeper has appeared in court, charged with dishonestly retaining nearly £1 million belonging to legendary designer Sir Terence Conran.
Darren Steadman, aged 33, is alleged to have dishonestly retained credits of £459,996 and £519,995 on December 4, 2002.
Steadman, of Greatfield Road, Kidderminster, was charged by West Mercia Constabulary, after an investigation into withdrawals from an Abbey National account belonging to Sir Terence, founder of the Habitat store chain.
Three other theft charges against the ex-footballer were withdrawn at Friday's hearing at Kidderminster Magistrates Court.
Steadman, who played more than 200 games in 12 years for Harriers and had brief spells with Worcester City and Evesham United, was granted conditional bail.
He was ordered to reappear before the same court next Thursday.
