TWO former workmates have been "overjoyed" by the response to their plans to host a reunion to mark the 20th anniversary of the closure of a Kidderminster factory.

Ex-workers and their relatives have come forward after the plans to mark the demise of hydraulic engineering firm Bradley and Turton were announced in the Shuttle/Times and News.

"The response has been great," said Kim McCabe, then Foster, who is co-organising the event with former workmate Sheila Corbett.

The reunion has now been organised for Saturday, April 24, from noon until 5pm in a function room at The Sutton Arms in Sutton Park Road, Kidderminster.

Among those who have come forward are several former workers who put in more than two decades at the factory, which used to be on the site of the Windmill pub, near Brinton Park, Kidderminster.

Relatives of employees who have since died have also been in contact to send their best wishes or to ask to meet up with ex-staff who might be able to share fond memories of their loved one.

The factory, which made products and machines for heavy industry, closed in 1979 after being based in Kidderminster for nearly 150 years.

The reunion will include a light buffet, with those attending asked to pay £5 a head to cover costs.

Anyone wanting to get in touch about the reunion can either e-mail Kim and Sheila at bradleyandturton@hotmail.com

Or you can drop their contact details in at the Kidderminster Shuttle office at 6 Tower Buildings, Blackwell Street, Kidderminster DY10 2DY, marked Bradley and Turton Reunion.
