PLANS for a new nightclub in Kidderminster have taken a further step towards a grand opening.
The proposed DY Eleven club, at a disused carpet factory in Green Street, has been granted a provisional public entertainment licence.
The man behind the plan - which sparked police fears about public disorder - said it could be open by May if all goes well.
Mark Roberts said: "It really is down to the costing and the financial variables of it all."
Police had at first warned that the nightclub would increase anti-social behaviour but have now given their blessing, as long as CCTV cameras are installed in and around the premises.
The licensing and environmental committee at Wyre Forest District Council voted through the application after receiving one anonymous objection.
Mr Roberts said he would now apply for a liquor licence for the club, which is permitted to open until 2am from Monday to Saturday and until 12.30am on Sundays.
