OLDER cars are being targeted by thieves, police have warned.
Vehicles without modern alarms or immobilisers are attracting thieves, who have broken into or stolen cars throughout Wyre Forest.
Detective Constable Frank Concannon of Kidderminster Police said: "Many of these cars are the older types that are less likely to be alarmed or have immobilisers fitted.
"At the moment, the main Wolverhampton Road across Kidderminster, Bewdley and Stourport and the Comberton, Greenhill and Cookley areas tend to be the places where vehicles are being targeted.
"People with older types of cars can invest in steering locks or other security devices."
He added: "Stereos and expensive sound systems are also a target for thieves at the moment and we would urge that people take extra caution if they have fitted their cars with expensive equipment as to where they leave their cars and consider the security of their cars.
"Our enquiries are continuing as to who the offender or offenders are but anyone who has any information about car crime can contact the intelligence office at Kidderminster on 08457 444 888."
