A 20-year-old man suffered head and eye injuries when he was assaulted after a night out in Kidderminster.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the attack, which took place on Saturday outside the new Oswald Bailey Shop on Weavers Wharf, to come forward.
The victim, who had left Yates Wine Bar at around 10.30pm and walked towards the town centre via Vicar Street, was pushed to the ground and kicked repeatedly in the head and body.
He was receiving treatment at Worcester Royal Hospital for head and eye injuries.
PC Timothy MacRae of Kidderminster Police urged anyone who saw anything suspicious before the attack to call him on 08457 444 888.
