AN Alcester hardware store is celebrating after winning a National Retailer of the Year Competition.
Morris Mica Hardware, of Swan Street, scooped the Gold Award 2003 in a competition run by the voluntary trading group Mica Hardware.
The prize was won after a mystery customer visited the store.
Store owner David Hart was delighted with his success.
"The staff at Morris are dedicated to the customers and always try to give excellent service.
"We are delighted they are being recognised by this award.
"It shows that their consistent hard work has paid off."
Categories judged as part of the award included service, telephone manner, product knowledge and store appearance.
Mica stores, which are independent, are found in 11 countries world-wide.
