A LEADING Redditch aerospace firm has been bought by American engineering giant Honeywell, it was announced on Monday.

The Hymatic Group Ltd, based in North Moons Moat, has been a major player in the pneumatics and hydraulics industry since its formation in 1937 and much of its work involves building environmental control systems for the aerospace industry.

Hymatic, which employs more than 230 people and has an annual turnover of about £25 million, will become part of Honeywell Aerospace's Engines, Systems & Services (ES&S).

Russ Turner, President of Honeywell Engines, Systems & Services said: "The acquisition of The Hymatic Group is an excellent technology fit with our existing environmental control systems product line.

"This acquisition expands our presence in Europe and brings our business closer to our customers in the region."

The terms of the takeover have not been disclosed.
