STUDLEY have been handed a pre-FA Vase boost with influential midfielder Matt Coppin pledging his future to the club after Bedworth United attempted to lure him away from The Beehive.

Dr Martens Western League outfit Bedworth had given Studley official seven days' notice to hold transfer talks with former Stourbridge and Bromsgrove Rovers man Coppin.

But Bees boss Mark Chambers has confirmed that the 28-year-old player's loyalty remains firmly with Midland Alliance high flyers Studley who are preparing for their eagerly-awaited fourth-round proper FA Vase tie with Leamington Spa this Saturday.

"I spoke to Matt after our game on Saturday and he's told me that he's going nowhere," revealed Chambers. "He's been with the club two years now and he's very happy here.

"Unfortunately, we're not in the position to offer players contracts so we have to rely on their loyalty. We just happen to be having our best season for years, so that obviously helped Matt with his decision.

"Some people may think that Matt would have been tempted by the prospect of playing at a higher level but he's already done that with clubs like Bromsgrove and Stourport, so it's not really a factor for him."

Bedworth did have up to a month to sign Coppin who missed most of December's action after having to fly back to the Caribbean on family business.

Chambers has already lost skipper Steve Hands to Dr Martens Western League strugglers Evesham United last month with ex-Liverpool defender Dave Burrowes moving to France with his family to live.

"You could say that we're victims of our own success at the moment. Clubs see where we stand in the table and come along to see exactly how we're doing it!" added Chambers.
