CONTROVERSIAL plans for a naughty knicker and sex-aid shop opposite Worcester's The Guildhall have moved a step closer.
Work has already begun on the Ann Summers branch at the former men's Next, at 34 High Street, and now the firm has asked for permission to install a new shopfront and signs.
Officers at Worcester City Council will now examine the bid, before the full planning committee decides whether to accept the proposal.
The saucy store, which is famous for its risqu range of adult products, has attracted criticism from the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Gareth Jones.
"The location is inappropriate, as it will be in the busiest area of the city, he said in November.
However, Coun Jones was challenged after it emerged his partner, Karen, had held an Ann Summers party at their Northwick home.
The Evening News received a flood of letters supporting the store.
