A RETIRED sailor, who took to the bottle after his wife left him, hurled drunken abuse at Droitwich shoppers.
Fifty-five year-old Michael Graham was spotted shouting and swearing at people in Victoria Square, Worcester Magistrates heard.
Prosecuting, Mary Wallace said it was the second time police saw Graham in the town centre on Monday. He was drunk.
"The officers noticed the defendant outside WH Smith and he was clearly drunk," said Mrs Wallace."He was being abusive and using swear words to members of the public."
Graham, of Swan Lane, Upton Warren admitted being drunk and disorderly.
Defending, Richard Wilkes said Graham accepted he was abusive, but added there was no aggression or violence."He was married 35 years and cracks developed in the relationship. He realises drinking is not the solution to his problems."
Magistrates fined Graham £60 and ordered him to pay £35 costs.
