MANAGER John Barton will be forced to reshuffle his pack as Worcester City bid for a hat-trick of league wins tomorrow.

The St George's Lane club entertain Welling United (3pm) harbouring doubts over full-back Allan Davies, while record signing Jai Stanley is out undergoing knee surgery and goalkeeper Danny McDonnell is suspended.

If Davies, who didn't train last night, fails to recover from an ankle knock picked up at Eastbourne a fortnight ago, Jon Holloway or Dan Parker will replace him.

Holloway has missed the last two-and-a-half months with a groin injury but, if there is no reaction to the exertions of training, Barton could be tempted to start him in the Dr Martens Premier Division clash.

Both Holloway and defender Barry Woolley, who has a slight hip problem, will have late fitness tests.

Goalkeeper Chris Taylor fills in for McDonnell, out following his dismissal at Marine in the FA Trophy.

The big selection poser for Barton will be in central midfield with Darren Middleton, David Foy and Pat Lyons all vying for a starting slot alongside John Snape. Foy is due to go into hospital on Monday for surgery on a groin problem.

"It's a crucial position in midfield and an area where we have got some options. There is an opportunity for someone to really nail their colours to the mast and stake a strong claim," said Barton.

"I've heard lots of talk about who should fill the role, but the only way for players to be judged is by producing performances. That's where managers make their assessments."

The 'Wings', managed by 1990 World Cup full-back Paul Parker, arrive at Worcester on the back of three wins. They boast a useful strike duo in Paul Booth and Phil Collins but Barton believes tomorrow is all about what City do.

"No matter who you play there are always people to keep an eye on but we have to make sure that we go out and perform ourselves," added Barton.

"Welling have won their last three and we will be striving to do the same."
