MALVERN Aikido Club recently gained a further two 1st Dan black belts at a British Ki Aikido Association (BKAA) seminar earlier this month.
Graham Stokes and Tim Cossali-Francis achieved this grade after seven years' hard work and were awarded the accolade after performing a rigorous examination in front of a panel of the highest grades in the organisation.
Aikido is a gentle but powerful martial art that uses the attackers' strength and weight against them, utilising arm or wrist lock principles to throw or immobilise the opponent. It is suitable for men and women of all sizes and abilities but takes a little longer than most martial arts to master.
The club practice Monday nights at the Wyche Institute, Malvern Wells. Further information can be obtained from Sensei Ian Hollman, chief instructor on (01684) 561575.
