ENJOYING all the possession and territory early on, Malvern Town Wanderers could not still find the end product against a resolute Newtown Sports.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U15s 6, NEWTOWN SPORTS U15s 1

The home side finally broke the deadlock on 25 minutes as Richard Pitt tucked in a tidy finish after a fine run. Wanderers certainly stepped it up a gear and, with a change of personnel, looked more threatening. Kris Denslow made it number two as his left wing dart was finished with a well-slotted goal in the bottom corner.

Kris Denslow was on the score sheet again for the third as he crashed home Tom White's accurate cross. He could have claimed his hat-trick but for Gareth Jones's brilliant save from a penalty. Richard Pitt claimed his second as he reacted quickest to prod home from close range. Ben Patrick fired home number five with the help of quick feet and fine control. J Hadley grabbed a consolation goal for Newtown but the margin was widened again as Luke Arnold drilled home from distance to wrap up the scoring.

BREDON COLTS JUNIORS 3,

MALVERN UNITED U15S 4

MALVERN United travelled to Ashchurch Army camp to take on Bredon and came away the victors after a game that left all present breathless.

United gave an indication of the battle to come when Jamie Faulkner lobbed the keeper after just seven minutes. The constant end-to-end attacking play by both teams gave rise to the equaliser on the half-hour and the back four of Adam Oakley, Dom Portman, Ben Hardinge and Mike James had to work really hard to stop Bredon increasing their lead before the break.

Fourteen minutes into the second half Bredon took the lead when they beat the offside trap but with United's fighting spirit it always looked possible they would even things up and sure enough on the 61st minute Jamie Faulkner hit the cross bar and captain Liam Harford beat the keeper to the rebound to make no mistake.

United now laid siege to the Bredon goal and within two minutes took the lead again after a goalmouth scramble was kneed into the net by Henry Currie. Andy Nolan's penetrating throws continued to cause Bredon problems and twice more Jamie Faulkner rattled the crossbar.

Craig Baker took control of United's midfield section and Dom Portman marshalled the defence ably supported by Liam Harford from midfield to thwart any Bredon attack. The home side were stunned in the 76th minute when a goal kick from Dom Portman was met by the hard-working Alex Jenkins who turned and fired in a cannonball of a shot from 40 yards.

Bredon hit back and pulled one goal back close to full time and if it wasn't for United's outstanding keeper Gaz Atkinson making a brave dive at the feet of the advancing Bredon attacker in the dying seconds they would have shared the points.

Man of the match was Alex Dexter.

WELLAND JUNIORS U14s 7,

DROITWICH JAGUARS U14s 0

AT the halfway stage of the season Welland U14s remain unbeaten in both league and cup games.

Another outstanding performance saw Welland dominate this end of year clash. Man of the match Josh Brentnall turned on an exceptional display, he played a vital part in six of Welland's seven goals.

Within minutes of the kick off Droitwich were a goal down. Undaunted they continued to push forward only to come up against a very strong Welland back four. Liam Paddock, Kurt Doyle, Tom Jeffs and Alex Williams proved yet again to be a solid defensive force.

The second half proved to be one way traffic with Welland in complete control. Leading scorer Richard Phelps scored four fine goals. Other scorers were Kurt Doyle, Liam Paddock and Ben Raol. Solid performances from Ashley Shouler, Ben Marks and Arron Richards completed an excellent team effort. Welland's keeper Austin Watts made two superb saves early on but became a spectator for the remainder of the game.

WORCESTER JUNIORS U14s 6,

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U14s 7

FIELDING a weakened team, without either of their goalies, missing two regular defenders and with no subs, Wanderers just managed to claim victory at the end of a pulsating game in the Mercian Festival League.

They conceded the first goal within ten minutes but Ollie Mason grabbed an equaliser and Ryan Mansbridge put Wanderers in front. Worcester kept attacking and scored quickly but a well-taken Luke Butler penalty gave Wanderers the lead again. However by half time Worcester had scored three more times and looked to have the game sewn up.

In the second half, a superb Paul Jordan header got one goal back but poor defending presented Worcester with a chance and they retained their two-goal lead. With only ten minutes left it looked all up for Wanderers but stand-in keeper Luke Butler saved a penalty and Wanderers were on the attack again. Luke Borton scored with a glorious strike and then Paul Jordan got the equaliser. Finally, with only a couple of minutes, left Ryan Mansbridge scored the winning goal.

WORCESTER RAIDERS U13s 0, WELLAND U13s 3

WELLAND U13s got back to winning ways with a hard fought Mercian League win.

In a scoreless first half, Welland had more possession but created few goal scoring chances.

Early in the second half Raiders looked dangerous and only a good low save by Barton Mathews prevented them taking the lead. A good movement down the Welland left wing helped to break the deadlock. Ben Fletcher crossed to Will Brown who coolly slotted home his fifth goal of the season. Welland started to grow in confidence and pushed on looking for a second goal. This however, led to gaps appearing at the back and goalkeeper Mathews made a string of fine saves to preserve the lead. Cathal McTernan was now proving a real handful for the Raiders defence and his pace created several chances, two of which were converted, first by Nathan Budd and then by leading scorer Fletcher. The Worcester team battled away but could not find a way past man of the match Mathews and a Welland defence in which James Allen again excelled. The score line did not really reflect the closeness of the game.

BROMYARD TOWN GIRLS U12S 0,

WARNDON VILLAGES PANTHERS 0

BROMYARD U12 girls team were frustrated for the second week running in their goalless but very entertaining Mercian League Cup home tie against Warndon Villages Panthers at Delahay Meadow.

Having already beaten the Panthers in the league and cup this year Bromyard were hoping for some early Christmas cheer in their bid to move up the table and challenge the leaders. Town were dominant throughout a lively first half with Warndon only occasionally venturing into the Bromyard half, leaving Town's keeper Winnie Cowley without a serious save to make.

Bromyard's midfield duo of Natasha Merris and Clare Almond were particularly impressive. Captain Clare Almond had numerous good attempts on goal including one superb shot on the turn which rattled the post.

Bromyard in the second half in an effort to find a way through shuffled the pack and moved Michaela James into attack. However, in spite of their continued possession and countless efforts on goal Town were still unable to find a breakthrough.

Whilst Bromyard will see this as a points lost rather than one gained the Town's players and management team will take heart from a solid performance.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS COLTS U9s 1, NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS 4

MALVERN Town Wanderers Colts did not produce their best football at this hard played local derby.

An early goal from Newtown put the Wanderers on the attack though and Josh Seabourne scored a good equalizer making full use of his speed and skill. Although Harry Tawse and Myles Cunningham worked hard in defence, Newtown were 2-1 up by half-time, and Callum Bradford in goal had been called on to make several timely saves.

Alex Williams, Stan Mason, and Joel Wright all put pressure on in the second half, but despite this, Newtown scored twice more. Tom Busher was relentless in his efforts to score, producing three shots which were only just wide of the mark. Midfielder Brandon Hudson stayed strong in the heart of the game and Max Howie was reliable in defence, but they could not stem the flow of strong football from Newtown, which included a super hat-trick by Lewis Doyle.
