I WAS pleased to see Jackie Carey's letter (Your Letters, December 12) correcting the constant inaccuracy over where Mr Boycott died; it was indeed the American's crossing and not Hanbury/Goodwood Road crossing.
I use this crossing every day, both during daylight and in winter in the dark. I have recently seen Sir Michael Spicer over this crossing. The solution is so easy and cheap.
There is already a signal light from Malvern Link to Worces-ter, so you know full well when a train is coming, let alone the hooting the train driver now goes through as he approaches the crossing.
If we had a signal on the opposite side into Malvern from Worcester - problem solved. The same could be installed up on the Greenfield's Americans crossing - cheap as chips, as they say. The Goodwood Road/ Jamaica Road crossing suffers from pretty constant vandalism and large schemes would be inappropriate.
I am not young any more but I just can't understand what this constant fuss is about. One of those people killed on the Goodwood/Hanley Road crossing was, I understand, deaf. Lights would have saved him would they not?
S DANSON, Goodwood Road, Malvern Link.
