Malvern Hills District Council debated genetically modified food at a meeting on Tuesday.
Councillors voted that the council would not use GM food, but Coun Reg Farmer raised the question of how much food was actually used by the council.
Coun Sue Adeney said the principle of the issue was important and council leader Tom Wells agreed, saying the council was showing community leadership through the decision, although it did not consume vast amounts of food.
