RESIDENTS in Worcestershire are being given their say on Government proposals for the future of the police service.

A major Home Office consultation document on policing in local communities has been put on West Mercia Constabulary's website for people in Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, and Telford, to study and provide feedback.

A spokesman for the constabulary said: "Among key areas for consideration are ways in which the police and the community can work together more effectively, how enhanced accountability of the police service may be achieved, and ways of improving the operational effectiveness of the police at local and national level."

Members of the public can access the document, entitled Policing: Building Better Safer Communities Together at the website www.westmercia.police.uk

Responses and comments on the paper must be submitted by Tuesday, January 27, and full details of how to respond are on the website.
