THE deaths of two Ombersley men has prompted a safety survey on a notorious stretch of road in the village.
Michael Jennings, aged 22, and Billy Hall, 19, were both pronounced dead at the scene of a collision on the A449, between Ombersley and Crossway Green, on Tuesday December 9.
Mr Hall was due to celebrate his 20th birthday on Sunday, December 28.
The collision sparked Mid Worcestershire MP Peter Luff to ask the Government to make safety improvements on the road.
He was told the Highways Agency would be conducting a survey on the section of the road in question within the next three months to develop a package of measures to improve safety.
"There have been too many tragedies on this road, the most recent only last week," said Mr Luff.
"It is a great shame that it has taken such tragedies to persuade the Highways Agency to act, especially after their excellent work north of Ombersley.
And even now, the much needed improvements will still not be made for a long time.
"But this is progress - we now know that something will be done. I just hope that we will be spared further serious accidents in the time it takes to conduct the study and get the improvements agreed and implemented."
