NATIONALLY acclaimed Cotswolds writer Tony Bicat is bringing the spirit of Christmas to the stage this festive season.

Robin of Wychwood is a pantomime set in the Cotswolds and combines the tales of Robin Hood and Babes in the Wood with a number of local myths and legends thrown in for good measure.

And it certainly is a real family affair.

The show's music has been written by Ivor Novello award-winner Nick Bicat.

The Oxford-based composer was awarded the honour with his brother Tony for their songs in the play Teeth 'n' Smiles. Nick is known for his work on films and television programmes.

Tina Bicat is the third and final member of the family team involved in the show.

The freelance costume designer/maker is taking a break from her hectic schedule to provide the clothes for the 10th year.

The festive production, which features an outstanding professional cast and new hand painted sets, is set in the depths of Wychwood forest.

Robin, an environmentally friendly woodcutter, is distantly related to the better-known Robin Hood.

The lowly Robin loves Daisy, daughter of the nasty Baron Bullnose, who is intent on getting his hands on his orphaned niece and nephew's fortune.

And audiences will be intrigued to discover whether Old Mother Shipton, who controls everything in the forest, is a source of good or evil.

Robin of Wychwood will run until Saturday, January 10.
