WELL, Geoffrey K Ryland is right about one thing - the main target of those against hunting has always been the huntsman.
Foxes may be vermin but to base a social activity around the idea of hunting them down and killing them is ethically unsound.
With regards to his final comments, the link between conservation and hunting is misinterpreted. It suggests that successful conservation is a consequence of field sports. Yet there is no evidence to suggest that a lack of field sports leads to a lower fox population.
Even if the claims of extinction for rural foxes were to come true, there would still be a mass of urban foxes who seem to survive in spite of hunts not running through our major cities.
