A storyteller with a difference will be visiting the Conquest Theatre in Bromyard.
Actor and musician Raymond Sargent will bring to life classic tales The Signalman, by Charles Dickens, and The Three Strangers, by Thomas Hardy, in a show aptly named Two Victorian Tales.
Mr Sargent takes the guise of a Victorian fairground storyteller, inviting audiences into his darkened tent to hear tremendous tales of suspense, mystery and the supernatural.
The Signalman is the tale of a wealthy industrialist, whose chance encounter with the solitary inhabitant of a lonely railway signalbox leads to an uncanny conclusion.
A christening in an isolated cottage on a dark stormy night, is the scene of Thomas Hardy's The Three Strangers. One by one, three mysterious guests arrive at the cottage and a tale of lies, mistrust and intrigue is revealed.
Sound effects, music and atmospheric lighting will punctuate the one-man performance and, as the tales unfold, the deadpan storyteller will take on the persona of twenty-five separate characters.
The show, promoted by Pirouette Productions, is currently touring venues around the country and will be in Bromyard on Saturday, October 25, at 7.30pm. For more details, ring the box office on 01885 488575.
