ARTS Alive will be bringing a host of plays and films to village venues around Herefordshire between now and December.

Among the highlights of the group's new programme is a performance of Infinite Something and the Third Monkey at Bosbury Village Hall on Friday, October 31.

The Blackadder-style frivolity, by Infinite Number of Monkeys, charts evolution set in the ultimate Big Brother House, where all humankind are the housemates and eviction is very final. Will mankind succeed to take the mystery prize or will the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse start the end of time early? The show begins at 7.30pm and for details ring 01531 640415.

Ledbury's Market Theatre hosts I Shot Buffalo Bill on November 8. In 1903, the sharpshooting showman and his troupe of Native Americans and cowboys overwhelmed Cardiff.

The show, presented by Hijinx Theatre, explores the lasting impact that the extraordinary roadshow had on generations of a Cardiff family. The performance will begin at 8pm. For details ring 01531 633760.

As part of the Flicks in the Sticks initiative, the film Rabbit Proof Fence (PG) will be showing at the Market Theatre on Sunday, October 26, at 7pm.

Set in 1930s Australia, the film tells the story of three young half-caste Aboriginal girls who are fighting to escape forced removal and integration into white society. Based on a true story, the film follows the girls as they embark on an incredible journey across the barren outback to their home.

Other films include Chicago (12A) at Gorsley Village Hall, near Newent, on November 6, and the Market Theatre on November 30; Lawrence of Arabia (12) at Lady Emily Community Hall, Tarrington, on November 15; and Very Annie Mary (15) at Bosbury Village Hall on November 21.

On December 4, Mrs Dalloway (PG) will be shown at Gorsley Village Hall and on December 7 The Wild Thornberrys (U) can be seen at Lady Emily Community Hall.

The programme finishes with Bruce Almighty (12A) at Bosbury Village Hall.
