I WAS delighted to learn the result of the Swedish referendum on joining the eurozone.

I was not surprised that there was an emphatic "no" to joining, because Sweden has always been a much respected country, with a population of sound values and good sense, which they displayed in the way they voted.

They were effectively thinking "why should we join an organisation, whose countries, in the main are suffering from high inflation, high unemployment, reducing economic growth and an inability to control their own economies?"

Germany is a prime example where their authorities are literally tearing out their hair in not being able to take steps to avoid an economic crisis, simply because, having joined, they are bound by the rules and must abide by them, even if it is not in their interests.

No wonder that Sweden and the UK, who are both doing very well, are gloating!

However, I cannot understand why our Prime Minister's cronies have been making ludicrous, and very inaccurate statements on TV and in the Press, which imply that Sweden was wrong to vote "no". Have they no sense of reason? It's worrying.
