YMCA Vulcans bounced back from defeat in their opening Brewin Dolphin Securities Malvern Table Tennis League Division Two match by winning their next two matches.

Nick Price was in fine form winning six out of six. Their match against Ledbury Exhaust was tighter than the scoreline suggests. Over one third of the sets were won by two points. A prime example was when Nick Rea became the first to beat Stewart Moss this season (11-9, 10-12, 12-10, 12-10). Three games went to five sets and another three were won in four.

Manor Park Juniors have won 14 out of 20 games this season with the trio of David Smith, Ben Salisbury and Jack Higgs proving too strong for Upton Ripples. They also finished strongly against Trojans although the key game was the doubles, which saw Anthony and Tom James beat David Hayes and David Backhurst 7-11, 11-4, 14-12, 16-14. The two Davids each won two while Anthony's three victories were racked up by a win each for Tom and James Clarke.

Trojans were more successful in their visit to Upton Ripples. Messrs Backhurst (one) and Hayes were joined by Kevin Howard for his first match since being transferred from Third Division Nomads. Kevin won all his singles and partners David Hayes to doubles victory. Roger Davies and Peter Nash each won one for the hosts.

Newly promoted Bromyard Logics are finding life a bit more difficult in Division Two, but a bit more luck against Ledbury could have seen them earn a draw. The last two games in the fifth set including the opening game of the night, which saw Stewart Moss beat John Hunt 12-10 in the deciding set. Stewart won all three for Ledbury and was well supported by Ray Locke (two) and Tony Williams (one). John won his other two singles and Chris Daniels one. Chris and partner Derek Craddock were narrowly defeated in the doubles by Ray and Stewart in another five start thriller.

Manor Park Pumas made it two wins out of two by beating Crackpots E. Jon Dyke and Dave Hallam each won three although they lost the doubles in four sets to Colin Dolding and James Palmer.
