GEORGE Rooney may be tempted to rest Marcus Jackson for Bromsgrove Rovers Dr Martens Western Division clash at Clevedon Town.
Jackson has been one of Rovers star performers but after a punishing schedule Rooney might leave him on the bench.
"He's extremely sore from last week but he's a tough character and I'm sure he will want to play," said Rooney.
"He's taking a hell of a buffeting but he never stops. To draw a boxing analogy it's like putting a flyweight in with a middleweight and he gets knocked about and it does take its toll."
Keeper Paul Wyatt (thigh) is doubtful which could mean another start for Ian Gandy who did well in Rovers' 1-1 draw at Sutton Coldfield Town on Tuesday evening.
Rooney is also hoping to save Mark Atkinson but admits he might be forced to play the in-former striker.
"I need to make sure he has got enough in the tank for the FA Cup match in a week's time but he feature at some point," said Rooney.
Michael Swan could make his second start in place of Atkinson.
