A MALVERN morris dancing club is looking for new members.

Old Meg Northwest Morris, based in Poolbrook, perform a range of traditional dances from Lancashire and Cheshire.

There are currently around 15 members and at least 10 are needed to perform one of the dances, which are based around heavy, precise footwork.

People who can play instruments such as a melodian, clarinet or whistle are also in demand, as the dances are usually accompanied by music.

The group performs at various events, including the Newent Onion Fayre and Upton Folk Festival.

Member John Lowe said: "It is an interest more than anything. If you are keen to practice and like going to the sort of events we go to, then it's probably for you."

It is free to join the group for the first few weeks, but from then on a small fee will be asked for.

An open evening for those interested in joining is being held at 8pm on Tuesday, October 21, at the Foley Institute, near the Three Horseshoes pub in Poolbrook.
