A Malvern army cadet attended the West Mercia Constabulary good citizen of the year awards at police headquarters, Hindlip Hall, Worcester, on Thursday.
James Taplin, aged 15, a pupil at Hanley Castle High School and member of the Upton army cadets, was shortlisted for the award for his outstanding work with the Poppy Appeal, for which he raised £333 last year.
The awards were held by West Mercia Constabulary to acknowledge the good work of young people in the area it polices.
James received a pen set and £50 cash prize for making it on to the short list of 11, but missed out on the top prize, which went to Jessica Andrews, aged nine of Evesham, who won £100 for helping a classmate with visual disabilities.
