UNDER-pressure manager Ian Britton resumes his bid to lift Kidderminster Harriers out of the Nationwide League Division Three relegation zone tomorrow with a tough clash against high-flying Swansea City at Vetch Field.

Harriers have won just once in their last 12 outings and are currently second from bottom in the table after slumping to a miserable 2-1 home defeat against fellow strugglers Southend United last Saturday.

Their grim plight has forced Britton to make a number of enquiries to other clubs in an effort to boost his squad.

One deal that was completed earlier this week was the capture of 28-year-old Wayne Hatswell who is set to make his debut in defence tomorrow.

The former Oxford United campaigner has joined from Conference outfit Chester City in a deal which will keep him at Aggborough until the end of next season.

Britton said: "I do think we need to build from the back. On Saturday we didn't play very well but we should have taken a point. Everybody could see we still need quality in the side if we are going to compete at this level.

"The board have given me their backing but I am still near enough within budget."

Britton has also been busy trying to wrap up loans signings to pep Harriers shot-shy attack - a department which is likely to be without Bo Henriksen for a couple of weeks.

The Danish striker is battling to overcome Achilles and groin injuries, although there is better news of midfielder John Melligan.

He is expected to be fit to face the Swans after being substituted ten minutes from time in Tuesday's 2-0 LDV Trophy first round defeat at Second Division high-riders Queens Park Rangers.

He was taken off as a precautionary measure after complaining of a tight hamstring.

Melligan has been a welcome inspiration since his return on loan from Wolves and Britton is hoping the Dubliner will able to help Harriers upset the form book tomorrow.

The Swans, however, will be a tough nut to crack after making an impressive start to the season.

They are third in the table and will be provide a far tougher test than last term when Harriers returned from Vetch Field with a 4-0 victory.

FORMCAST: Harriers to lose 2-0.
