A FOOTBALL club's funds are being depleted by repeated vandalism to its clubhouse in West Malvern.

In the latest attack on the pavilion last week, goalposts were unearthed, guttering was ripped off the pavilion roof and a gas meter box was ripped from the pavilion wall.

Terry Cole, who has run the West Malvern Football Club since 1971, said: "These attacks are becoming a regular habit at the club. It is incredibly frustrating to see the mindless damage that has been caused."

Previously, goalposts and corner flags have been stolen, gas lights have been smashed, panelling has been kicked and, recently, fires have been lit on the football pitches.

Police had to be called at the end of last season, after thieves broke into dressing rooms and stole mobile phones, bags and wallets from the pavilion, which is in an isolated area on the West Malvern playing fields.

Mr Cole said: "The pavilion has no electricity supply, so cameras or alarms are out of the question. The building is in such a run-down state, but if it gets repaired, it just gets vandalised again. The football club foots the bill for repair work, and we simply can't afford to keep paying out."

Mr Cole urges anyone who witnesses incidents to call police.
