I was outraged to read Stephen Cooper's letter (Your Letters, October 10) describing Sir Michael Spicer's involvement in the new Malvern Hospital project.
The truth is that the Hospital League of Friends and many other
organisations and individuals, including Sir Michael, have campaigned for over 25 years for a new community hospital to serve the town. I would have expected nothing less from an MP.
However, the reason that something is now happening is due to the foresight of the new council administration on Malvern Hills District Council. In offering South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust part of the council's depot site for
a new health centre, the council insisted on a firm commitment from the PCT to a new community hospital on the Seaford Court Site in Malvern Link.
The community leadership displayed by Tom Wells and his new council administration is to be applauded.
