A CAMPAIGN for a change in the law on rent deposits is being supported in Malvern.
Malvern Hills Citizens Advice Bureau is asking people to fill in postcards to send to their MP, to press for changes to the Housing Bill in the next session of Parliament.
CAB and Shelter want a statutory 'tenancy deposit scheme', to prevent land- lords from unjustly retain- ing deposits when tenants leave homes in good order.
Malvern Hills CAB manager Liz Pusey said: "It's unfair that this practice has been allowed to continue for years.
"There should be a system to prevent landlords from unreasonably withholding sometimes many hundreds of pounds."
The Government has already funded a three-year pilot scheme in five areas, following pressure from the CAB.
