CHILDREN from Upton CE Primary School will plant daffodils around the town as preparation for next year's Upton In Bloom competition.

More bulbs were planted in three containers at the entrance to Upton on Saturday by members of the Upton in Bloom Committee.

The pupils will be asked to plant their own bulbs in the large container opposite the bridge.

The committee hope that getting the community involved in the competition will help the town retain its gold award.

Responsibility for flowerbeds at the Pepperpot has been handed to the committee by Malvern Hills District Council. The committee was due to meet yesterday to decide whether to pass the beds along to the Rotary Club.

If so, flowers may be used to create the Rotary logo, to mark the branch's 25th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of the International Rotary Club.
