ON the Wildside Gallery in Malvern launches a new exhibition tomorrow (Saturday).

Natural Selection is described as a dynamic, vibrant collection of work from five talented young wildlife artists, who offer their striking views of nature through printmaking, collage and painting.

Esther Tyson, an accomplished painter and printmaker has recently graduated with a Masters degree from the Royal College of Art in London. A trip to Slovenia, tracking wolves, provided inspiration for her emotive portraits of these elusive creatures in their natural habitat.

West Midlands artist Russell Vernalls works predominantly in black and white, capturing the essence of wild creatures with his bold, sketchy style.

Brecon-born artist Robin Kenchington depicts birds and landscapes with soft, blurred brushstrokes and strong, rich colours.

Michele David finds beauty in detail. Her vibrant oil paintings present close-ups of nature, from the intricacies of rock pools to the texture of tree bark.

Established artist Alison Ingram, who lived in Malvern until recently, is a recognised name on the wildlife art circuit. Puffins and gannets are the focus of her strong, cubist technique and vibrant colourwork.

Gallery spokesman Christine Johnson said: "This exhibition showcases a new generation of very talented artists. Their work is full of life and energy and challenges people's preconceptions of wildlife art."

The exhibition will run until November 15, from Thursday to Saturday only.
