POLICE officers in Kidderminster will today be carrying out checks in the town centre in the hope of tracing the mother of abandoned baby Isobel.

The child, who is thought to be around six weeks old, was found in a black holdall bag in a toilet cubicle of the Rowland Hill Shopping Centre last Friday afternoon.

Officers will be handing out leaflets and speaking to shoppers and shopworkers in a bid to gain more information.

A mobile CCTV van will also be used and some people may be asked to view the CCTV footage of a woman carrying a black bag similar to the one that Isobel was found in.

Officers will be based by the toilets in Rowland Hill Shopping Centre and outside Boots, near to the Swan shopping centre.

"It may be that people have very small pieces of information which they do not think is relevant to our investigation but it may be the piece of the puzzle that we have been looking for," said Det Insp Adrian Todd.

Anyone who has any information should contact Kidderminster police on 08457 444888.
