ANYONE taking the train to London can expect delays as Network Rail undertakes major engineering works over the next two weekends.

The works will take place on tracks in the Slough area on Saturday, October 25, and Sunday, October 26, and again on Saturday November 1 and Sunday, November 2.

As a result, there will be significant alterations to most Thames Trains services to and from London Paddington on both weekends.

On the London-Reading-Oxford-Worcester-Hereford line, services between Reading and Paddington will be subject to delays.

Extra stops

Some services will make extra stops between Reading and London.

Passengers may find it quicker to change trains at Reading on to a non-stop service to Paddington.

Travellers are advised to check revised timetables before travel, to be prepared for longer journey times and to expect more changes of trains at Reading.

"We'd like to apologise in advance to passengers," said Jonathan Radley, Thames Trains communications manager.

"We hope they will understand this work is necessary to improve the performance of the railway infrastructure in the longer-term."
