PARENTS in Stourport are able to track exactly what their children ate at school - thanks to a unique "swipe card" system.
Pupils at Stourport High School now carry electronic cards instead of cash to pay for lunch and break-time snacks.
The cards are "loaded" with money by the pupil weekly or daily, and can then be used until the spending limit expires.
Parents can even obtain a print-out showing exactly what has been purchased.
The initiative has coincided with the appointment of a new chef briefed to provide more healthy eating options.
On the last Thursday of the month, from October 30 onwards, a "meet and eat" night is being held at the school, including a two course dinner cooked by the chef, costing about £5.50 per head. Tickets are available at the school reception or by ringing 01299 872950.
