TWO Droitwich Spa boxers have started the season off in fine style with victories in a national competition.

Marc Bonehill, aged 16, and 15-year-old Adam Mytton, from Droitwich Amateur Boxing Club, both won first round bouts in the National Association of Clubs for Young People Boxing Championships at Bearwood last Saturday.

Bonehill used his reach advantage to telling effect against Richard Smart (Corby Olympic) to notch up a convincing points win, taking every round.

Mytton's contest with John Bray (Lions) was closer. Although a bit ragged at times, Mytton's speed of punching and elusive defence kept him in the driving seat despite Bray's constant forward pressure.

The pair now go to the Midland finals of the NACYP Championships at Coventry on November 2 where they both meet experienced opponents from the Kettering School of Boxing.
