EXCRUCIATING headaches and constant dizzy spells have become a way of life for a Bromsgrove man since he was brutally attacked on the way home from a town watering hole.

Roy Bourne spoke exclusively to the Advertiser/Messenger this week about how his life has been left in tatters since the attack two months ago.

His skull was fractured in three places after he was set upon as he walked from the Turks Head pub to his home on the Charford estate on August 15.

He has not been able to give the police any details, as he simply cannot remember anything from that night and has suffered from chronic memory loss since.

"All I know is that I woke up the following morning with an excruciating headache and my mobile phone and wallet were gone," said the 51-year-old.

"My daughters tell me I have been in hospital for ten days but unfortunately the only thing I can remember is arriving there. After that there is nothing at all."

Roy cannot even be sure where he was the evening before the attack, although his senses tell him he was at the Worcester Road pub.

"I always go to the Turks Head on a Friday night, I have done for the last four or five years. I only take ten pounds out and usually return with change," he said.

He has been signed off sick from his factory job for another three weeks, as it is not safe for him to operate machinery due to his constant spells of dizziness.

"I am preparing myself to go back to work by taking a walk into town everyday, but what used to take fifteen minutes now takes more than a hour," he said.

Roy is urging anyone who may have seen anything at around 10.20pm on the night of the attack to call DC Mike Allen at Bromsgrove police on 08457 444 888.
