REDDITCH United boss Rod Brown has promised to strengthen his squad while the Reds are riding high at the top of the Dr Martens Western Division.

United extended their lead at the top of the table with a hard-fought 3-1 derby victory over Evesham at The Valley Stadium last night thanks to a Richard Leadbeater brace and a Lee Ross strike.

And Brown believes it's now vital the club capitalise on their flying start to the campaign, which could end in a huge leap to the Nationwide Conference under new league structuring plans.

"It was a typical derby and at half time I had to give them a bit of a talking to and try to lift them, although I thought we were always the better side," Brown told the Advertiser. "We've played nine games and have kept six clean sheets and only conceded four goals, which is fantastic. This early season form would win us the league but we've got to keep going.

"So really, the time to strengthen the squad is when you're at the top.

"I'm looking to bring one or two new faces in but I can't knock the lads tonight."
