QUALITY cars across Redditch and Wythall are being targeted by thieves and may be being stolen to order, police have warned.

Thieves are breaking into homes in order to get the car keys to steal the expensive vehicles.

At about 4.20am on Friday, a homeowner in Beoley disturbed intruders before they calmly took his car keys and stole a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and a blue Fiat Coupe.

The Mitsubishi was found abandoned on the A435 a few minutes later but the Fiat Coupe, registered P757 GTF, is still missing.

At about 3.40am last Tuesday, a Wythall man disturbed an intruder who stole two sets of car keys but not the cars.

A police spokesman said: "We want people to know that these types of offences are occurring in the Beoley and Wythall area.

"It seems there are a group of thieves who are targeting key areas, which include homes that are relatively close to motorway links or main roads."

"It is advisable that people do not leave the keys to their cars near to their front door and if you have a garage, then it's best to keep the car locked away.

"It may be that these offenders are stealing these cars to order or that they are watching people as they arrive home to see where the car is parked," the spokesman added.
